STUDENT ACTIVITIES
VISUAL ART - YEAR 8
In year 8 Visual Art, we are inquiring about the damage that has been caused to the Great barrier Reef and how artists have used this issue as subject matter for their art.
Chloe Marinelli took it upon herself to inquire and create her own wonderful artwork at home.
Well done, Chloe!
YEAR 10 VISUAL COMMUNICATION DESIGN

YEAR 9 LITERATURE CLASS
On Tuesday 4th May, the Year 9 Creative Literature class were lucky enough to attend a writing workshop with local author and literary agent, Danielle Binks. Danielle gave the class a great insight into the publishing world and how to condense all their great ideas into short story format. She also challenged the class to write a six word story, so look out for those in upcoming newsletters. Danielle’s debut novel, The Year the Maps Changed, is one our Year 7’s will be reading later this year.
PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK

YEAR 7 PERFORMANCE WEEK
This week Year 7 classes are heading into their performance week for Aladdin, with 7D kicking it off with their first performance on Tuesday. All classes have been putting in many weeks of hard work, learning about costume designs, how to use the lighting system, organise sound, props, set design and make up as well as learning their scripts. All students have done a fantastic job so far and we look forward to seeing all classes perform over the coming weeks!

It’s all happening in VCAL
The VCAL program is certainly gaining momentum during term 2 as all of our students start working towards fundraising for an upcoming service learning adventure trip in late term 3.
Senior School Formals
Students have started to bring some great fundraising ideas to life already with the first of three formals at the Mornington Golf Club being a huge success on Friday 30th April. Eighty students from Year 10 enjoyed a great meal, music, dancing, photo booth and games all of which were planned and organised by VCAL PD students. This group continues to work on upcoming formals with the year 11 Formal on Friday 14th and the year 12 Formal on Friday 21st May.
Tastepoint
VCAL students have organised for the Tastepoint company to set up for 70 willing participants next Tuesday 11th May in the College Canteen eating are. Please contact Jekab Kesnars and Ollie Agar if you haven’t registered your interest and would like to support their fundraising group. Please get on board.
Year 7 Disco
Plans are in full swing for a Year 7 Disco later on this term with several VCAL students meeting MYP leaders regularly to get this up and running. Stay tuned.
Senior VCAL Outdoor Education Hike
During week 2, as part of their Outdoor & Environmental Studies practical studies, senior VCAL students participated in an overnight hike along the two bays trail from Cape Schanck to Arthurs Seat. The weather certainly tested our resolve, with persistent rain overnight resulting in broken sleep for most of the group. Nevertheless, the group functioned extremely well from start to finish, completing the 25km journey in good spirits.
