Year 7 Camp

From the 28th to 30th of April, the Year 7s went to Marysville for a get to know each other camp. The camp formed lots of bonds between both students and teachers. These bonds were formed using a lot of communication during the trust building exercises, which ended in good sportsmanship shown by all. There were lots of laughs and smiles as everyone came back from the camp as new friends and better people.

Our experience at camp was great, and although the activities were the highlights, it was the food that kept us energised. One of their food sources were eggs from their own chicken coup. Camp Marysville bought locally to help nearby farmers grow as well to be sourced with fresh and healthy food. To be a resourceful camp, barely any food went to waste as fruit and vegetable waste was either turned into compost or fed to their chickens.

At Camp Marysville we did lots of fun and engaging activities like; rock climbing, canoeing, bike riding and bush skills. By doing all of these activities we Year 7s gained important knowledge on how to be safe in the bush and how to look for the safest place when camping. A majority of us enjoyed canoeing the most.

These activities made us communicate to each other, brought us closer, formed new friendships and we hope to do more fun experiences like this in the future.
