Learning and Teaching

Writing continues to be a focus for every level of our school. Our Preps to Year Twos are working on individual writing goals that they are striving towards. It is great to visit their classrooms and listen to them articulate what they are trying to achieve. They are so proud of their work!

In Year Three the emphasis is on Persuasive texts. The students are using the specific criteria to convince the reader of their opinion. This includes writing sentences to state their reasons why the Big, Bad Wolf from the story of 'The Three Little Pigs' is good or bad.

Year Four are closely linking their writing to their unit of inquiry.  The students are developing the skills to write information texts and infographics. This will support their learning in the area of Geography.

Year Fives are working on Graphic Novels. They are reading various texts and then working through the process to create their own. It will be exciting to share their completed novels with the school community.

In Year Six, the students are very excited to be writing clues about themselves in a specific location in the world. The other members of the class are working as detectives to find them. The teachers have also placed themselves in exotic locations, modelling the format and language that is used. There is a buzz of excitement amongst the cohort.

Our Year Three and Five classes are also preparing for NAPLAN. This will either be a persuasive or narrative text.

Let's continue to support writing!
