Technology and STEM

@ St Louis

This week in STEM learning through years 5 and 6, we've seen the students come up with some incredible solutions towards the Sustainable Development Goal of Affordable and Clean Energy For All.

Year 6 students used the platform of Minecraft Education to fix 5 different problems about renewable energy such as repairing solar panels on top of houses. We can't wait to see where they take their learning next.

Year 5 took another step into Design Thinking by creating some prototypes of wind turbines in an effort to power a lightbulb. They then tested these using multimeters and hairdryers to see how much energy their design could create.

This week, one shoutout goes to all of the year 3 students who came along to take part in our Wednesday Techsperts club. They all showed great creativity and problem-solving skills to build and design their own world in Minecraft Education.

It was also wonderful to see them displaying resilience when some of their devices or accounts weren't working. Well done folks!

We also have two groups of year 5s who deserve a shoutout. They are one group who came and helped to organise our electrical STEM kits to make sure other students have access to them, and another group who have been recording podcasts about technology and beginning to edit them on our 'Podcast Studio'.

Well done to you guys as well!
