Tutoring Program

This year, along with many schools state-wide, Ballarat High School has been fortunate to receive funding from the state government to support students whose learning was most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic during 2020.

BHS has a number of tutors who will help students to build their social, emotional and academic skills so that they can feel more confident in their learning.

Tutors will work collaboratively with classroom teachers and ensure that the set curriculum is the focus of all tutoring sessions. Tutors may sit in classes with small groups of students, withdraw students from classes for tutoring or a combination of these two options.

All tutors have helped their students to develop Individual Education Plans and these ensure that the students understand how they learn, where they might need further support and that they feel a sense of achievement when their short-term goals (one term in length) are attained. These goals will be adapted as needed throughout the year.

Tutors will track and monitor student progress in collaboration with classroom teachers and students will be given regular, clear feedback on their progress.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to receive extra support this year.
