Year 6 Book Week

Mrs Callinan

On Monday we were finally able to have our Book Week parade and celebration as a school. It was wonderful to see so many students and staff make a huge effort to dress up as their favourite book characters.

It was especially fantastic for the Year 6 students to have their final Book Week dress up day in person before heading off to secondary school next year. I was so impressed with the time and effort that had gone into the wonderful costumes that walked through the door on Monday morning, and the students were very keen to share who they were dressed as and how they put their costume together.

The Year 5 and 6 students had a great morning creating their own Sandwich Book Reports. Students were asked to bring in their favourite book from home and create a book report in a flip book format where the 2 slices of bread were the title, author and blurb and the filling of the sandwich was the different sections of the book report.

The students also had a great afternoon watching the amazing movie ‘Wonder.’ It was great to see the students so enthralled in the storyline and then briefly reflecting on the resilience of the main character, and the messages they took away from watching the movie.

We were very grateful that we were able to have our final Book Week day as a Year 6 class!
