Week 7 Reflection: Moments of Gratitude...

  • For our incredibly supportive parent community, who truly work in partnership with our staff. Our children are so very fortunate to have you guide them through the good times and the challenging times;
  • Mary Poppins Jr: what a joy to see this production come to life with singing and dancing filling the school hall each day. What amazing talent we have in Miss Sinker and what commitment from our students. A very special thank you to Miss Karen and our parent volunteers (Polly, Pina, and Jade) for organising all of the costumes and fittings this week. I am also SUPER grateful to ex SJM parent Jason Williams and his daughter Trinity, for coming in to photograph the cast. Lovely to see ex families still very much willing to contribute to our community.
  • On that note...thanks to Shahan Priamo who is also an ex parent of SJM, for organising special prayer cards for our 2022 preps and medals for our graduating class of 2021;
  • Karen R and Laura P for getting stuck into the planning of our Graduation celebrations, which will take place on Tuesday 14th December at 6pm in the school hall;
  • For a caring community beyond the gates when our school crossing guard had an accident yesterday; to Connie, Sandra, Talia and Mum for looking after Ian and to Adrian who stepped in to man the crossing. An extra special thank you to Ethan H (Y4) who swung into action and came to get me. A level head in a time of need! Thank you Ethan! I am also extremely grateful to the two medicos from Cabrini who stopped to ensure Ian was ok and moved to a comfortable place as we awaited the ambulance. Ian is doing well after spending the night in the hospital and his dad, Graham, called the school this morning to thank the parents who helped his injured son.
  • Thank you to Bridget B for her heartfelt letter to Ian- just lovely!!
  • Book week dress-ups! How wonderful to see book characters come to life! Thank you to the parents for organising costumes and to Mrs Jackson for organising the activities on the day. I must also thank all staff for getting into the swing of things!
  • Mrs Murphy’s successful operation- she is now on the road to recovery;
  • Last Sunday we celebrated the final Mass for First Communions. Over the course of two weekends we managed to have our Year 3 and Year 4s receive communion for the first time and once again I’d like to thank Fr Alan for negotiating the ever changing restrictions for church attendance to ensure these special masses occured before the end of the year;
  • Our staff continue to provide a rich curriculum each day, with some great incursions this week- linking circus skills to the science topic of forces- genius!
  • Our SRC and the talented Mrs O running the ‘Canned Film Festival’ each week in aid of the Malvern emergency food drive;
  • Parents already putting their hands up for P+F roles in 2022.
  • Rupert W (Y5) for entering Stonnington Libraries’ “What’s Your Story” writing competition, and winning with his submission “Just A Few Fins”. The judges commented that it is lyrically written, informative and devastating.
  • Charlie C (Prep) for being awarded a certificate by our State member of parliament for his Olympic Art.
  • Miss Sinker finally being able to have her wedding next Friday. We wish her and Greg a lifetime of love and happiness as they tie the knot.
  • Meeting with the parish Alpha group, Rosie, Nick and Heather (Elsie and Benji) as they plan to offer this wonderful program to our parents next year;
  • And finally...for lessons learned, friendships repaired and forgiveness given.
