VCE

Over the past week and a half year 10 and 11 students have “stepped-up” into year 11 and 12. For the new year 11’s they get to experience a full VCE load for the first time, trying new subjects and experiencing some of the changes from year 10.

Gage has described it as “fun” and Kira has said that “It’s helped me to be ready for year 12 next year”. Most students have settled into the VCE centre nicely with James describing VCE as “good and entertaining” and Deng saying that “it hasn’t been as scary as I thought.”

For our graduating class of 2022, starting year 12 has been exciting, daunting and a big step up from year 11.

Amilya says it’s “way different than year 11 - I wasn’t ready for the workload change from year 11. We have a lot more responsibility in year 12” and Alex agreed saying “I feel like I have to be more responsible and that we are being looked up to more”.

The year 12’s are also enjoying more time utilising the study hall area as a common space and the free breakfast club items in our kitchen.

Harry, who is also stepping up into year 12 says “It feels as though the environment has changed seeing as we are now stepping up into year 12. I feel like I am taking it more seriously. I’m also really looking forward to getting our year 12 jacket for next year”

Unit 1 Studio Arts students are gathering inspiration to create artworks:

Year 11 English students are looking at a range of migrant stories from the series of short stories “Joyful Strains”

VCAL

Exciting day this week as the new VCAL Cafe coffee box arrived! A huge thank you to Felicity and Gabby (from The Snappy Grump cafe in Hampton) who delivered the box to us and spent time assisting the students to set up the work space and practise their barista skills.

The students can't wait to give the box another life and continue to develop their work related skills! Keep an eye out for our journey in the new year.

Year 10

We have had a fantastic semester in Year 10 Foods of the World. We finished the semester making a delicious curry. Students were able to choose their protein - chicken, beef or prawns. All the students did a great job, it was delicious.

Year 10 Maths

We had a great semester of mathematics in 2021. Leaning stronger towards digital tools for learning, especially given the changing learning environment over the year.

In year 10 maths we introduced a new way to access and display key documentation, work and most importantly set goals, Padlet.

Padlet was the go to resource for the start of our classes particularly over remote learning and our Algebra topic, where both teacher and students would set their goals for the class before accessing any resources required for the day directly from that page.

These goals helped keep everyone accountable, as well as motivated towards achieving these goals. This information was archived in our Google Classrooms to allow the padlet to stay up to date only containing relevant information for the current class.

Year 10 Photography

Year 10 Photography ended the year strong with a mix of theory + practical tasks based around famous photographers and professionals in the field.

The students photograph and then edit photographs in the style of famous photographers including, Ansel Adams, Jerry Uelsmann and Lorna Simpson. Below is a selection of their works in the Style of Ansel Adams
