Year 9 TEA-m Project

A group of year 9 students voluntarily undertook a tea making project this semester. The idea was born from a glut of organic fruits delivered to the KHS kitchens by generous staff and students.

The project encompassed many skills associated with product development. Students met at lunch time once a fortnight to discuss ideas and share the work required to take a food product from conception to production and distribution. These skills and tasks included: preparing and dehydrating  produce, recipe development, food styling and photography, marketing, promotion, sales and the sourcing of a charity to receive proceeds from the project. Students were required to work collaboratively within the team, with KHS staff, students and the charity personnel.

Many thanks go out to all the people who supported the project including Phil our gardener, Sue Deleon, KHS kitchen staff, parents and students. Much learning has taken place and overall the experience has been a rewarding one for all involved.
