Chaplain's Corner

Hi Everyone,

Eleven grade 5 and 6 students completed 14 weeks of the MAT (Martial Arts Therapy) Program this week.  This was funded by the School Focused Youth Service in Manningham. It has actually been a two-year journey as it had to be cancelled last year due to COVID and was rolled over into this year as we again navigated a number of lockdowns!!  Thanks to the staff as we all navigated everchanging weeks/days/times – a journey of resilience and perseverance!

The mantra of the program is: “BE STRONG, BE CALM, BE KIND, TRY HARD”.

BE STRONG – in body, mind and heart

BE KIND – believe in yourself and be able to make better choices under pressure

BE CALM – towards yourself, others and the environment

TRY HARD – because success requires effort

My hope is that the students take away something from this program that will enable them to face and navigate any challenges they may face as they continue their journey to adulthood; that they will be more confident people in themselves and stay strong, be kind, be calm within and try hard.

It is important for all of us to not let the past or the present define us, but to learn from it and know that we are OK and can look forward with strength and positivity and making good choices.

And , as I like to say, let’s not forget to continue to reach out and take care of each other!  An attitude of gratitude for each other and making someone else’s life just that little bit better, actually makes our own life better too!!

Take Care!
