Rosemary Cosentino, our Principal, and all the hard work she has put in over this term to support me, the staff, our students, and our families. It has been an historic year, as you all know, and I am grateful that we have managed such a successful year regardless!
I know I have spoken to many of you about your exciting plans for the holidays, whether you are to go for a trip or stay locally with family please enjoy this time with your children. It is important that they have a bit of down time over the break, this has been a long term for them and this is a chance for them to recharge, spend time with family and to be ready for a big year of learning in 2022!
Our staff will all be on break over the school holidays and will not be replying to emails during this time. If there is anything you need or are concerned about please feel free to email it through, but please understand that we will not be getting back to you until we return to work at the end of January.
We had our launch of our House Names on Friday the 26th November which was an incredibly exciting day for all our students! We went through a consultation process with our community, students, and staff to determine the names for our houses. The final decision was that we would name the Houses after local birds using their indigenous names. We then consulted with the Bunurong Land Council to get permission to make use of traditional language for our Houses. The names are:
Red House: Gunuwarra – Black Swan
Green House: Barrowor – Magpie
Yellow House: Narruke – Cockatoo
Blue House: Tharowerag – Laughing Kookaburra
In 2022 we will be starting our Breakfast club up again! We will need volunteers but we will also need a parent volunteer who is able to take on the role of organizing a roster of the volunteers. Almost all of the organization is managed by TheirCare, but we just need someone to coordinate volunteers if students are away. If taking on oversight of the breakfast club sounds like an exciting opportunity, please just email south.melbourne.park.ps@edcucation.vic.gov.au.
