Principals News

Dear Families,

Congratulations to our amazing Prep students who celebrated their 100th day at school! The Preps celebrated with a parade, followed by activities in the hall with their parents, all to do with the number 100. The first year of school is always a massive year of learning for any child, but particularly for this year’s Prep, after two years of interrupted pre-school and kindergarten due to lockdowns. The leaps and bounds these children have taken not only in their academic learning but also in their social-emotional development has been astounding. This is down to their hard work, grit and growth mindset, and the incredible support and guidance of their parents and teachers. Congratulations must also go to the Prep families and the incredible Prep staff: Miss Annie Walker, Miss Vanessa Gooden, Mrs Georgina Benvenuto and Mrs Marie Hird who together have worked so hard to support these students on their learning journey for the past 100 days of school and beyond. The Prep staff and students certainly looked 100 years old today - must be from all of that hard work! Here’s to the next 100 days and beyond and these, our youngest cohort of students, continue to grow to eventually become the leaders of our school in six years time!

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS)

Each year in Term Three, students in Years 4-6 and all families and staff are invited to complete MACSIS, the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys, to gauge how our learning community is travelling. MACSSIS is a key data source for guiding the ongoing work to improve our school. Families will be sent an email with further details on how to complete the survey.

Parents will be able to complete the survey anytime over a three-week window between Monday 29 August to Friday 16 September 2022 via an emailed link and password which will be provided to each family in the coming weeks.

2023 Enrolments

Information will be sent out to all Prep 2023 families next week regarding dates for our Prep transition and orientation process in Term Four, with two prep classes confirmed for next year.

As we rapidly move towards the end of the year, the school is beginning its planning and preparation for the 2023 school year.  We ask that all current St Mary’s families please indicate on the Operoo form sent out today, as to whether your child/children will or will not be returning to St. Mary’s in 2023. This enables us to begin making preparations around staffing, classes and resources.
