Debating Update

Congratulations to our 10 A Debating team who beat our 10 B Debating team and claimed the CSDA Metropolitan Year 10 Championship Shield last Friday night. It was also very pleasing to see so many supporters in attendance. The Year 10s had far and away the biggest crowd, further emphasising how much we value this discipline.

Congratulations are also extended to all our student participants and their coaches. Their combined efforts saw St Patrick’s recognised as joint Aggregate Junior Shield winners. This has truly been a fantastic season whereby our students have learnt diligently and performed admirably. Mrs Lombardo and the Debating fraternity - take a bow!

Senior School Debating and Public Speaking Presentation Evening

Parents/carers and boys are reminded that the Debating and Public Speaking Presentation Evening will be held on Wednesday 17 August in the Robson Auditorium. Parents/carers and boys are asked to arrive by no later than 7:00 PM for a 7:15 PM start. Boys are to ensure they wear their full College Winter uniform and have their school shoes polished. Attendance by students involved with this activity is mandatory.

The College kindly requests that visitors attending the Presentation Evening DO NOT park in Hydebrae Street (which runs at ninety degrees from Francis Street and the Senior Library) at any time. Its narrowness makes resident parking difficult, and non-resident parking can present a safety risk by preventing the access of emergency vehicles.

Performing Arts Showcase

Members of the Band and Orchestral Programs are advised that the 2022 Performing Arts Showcase will take place in the Marie Bashir Public School Hall, 159 Albert Road Strathfield, on Thursday 18 August. Specific details will be forwarded to the parents/carers of students participating in this event soon. Please note that we aim to have everyone seated by no later than 6:30 PM. It is envisaged that the performances will conclude at approximately 9:00 PM. This will also allow for a short interval midway through proceedings.

Come out and support our boys

A reminder that this coming Saturday will see St Patrick’s host the Annual ‘Back to Breen Day’. This day is specially set aside for our Old Boys to come back and see the College and enjoy the atmosphere on and around the ovals. I would strongly encourage all members of our community to head up to SPC 2 to support the First XI in their ISA Semi-Final against Redlands at 1:00 PM. The First XV will then take on the boys from Kinross Wolaroi School on Breen Oval at 3:15 PM. Ordinarily, several of the Kinross community stay behind for this fixture so it would be great for our Old Boys to see a big crowd. It would be particularly pleasing to see a large number of our Junior School boys attend (and their parents/carers) given their Supporters’ Day was washed out earlier this year. Please be part of it.
