Cross Country

Ella Shackel & Poppi Wilson

On 19 July, our Cross Country season came to a close for 2022, with our team competing at CaSSSA Cross Country. The competition season certainly wasn’t a normal one, with the original CaSSSA date being moved back due to the flooding. We are both so proud of the students as through this they showed resilience and determination as they continued to train over the holidays and the weeks leading up to this date. All this training showed out on the course with all of the runners giving their absolute best!  It was a tough course and our runners not only showed off their fitness but also their mental strength as they battled over the four-kilometre course. Overall, we ended up coming sixth overall, pulling ourselves off the bottom of the ladder, which was absolutely amazing, and I’m sure in the years to come we can increase this.

A special congratulations to Mia Wise who came third in the thirteen-year-old category.

We would both like to thank our runners for their determination and commitment turning up time after time for trainings, even on cold mornings! This season was one of the best yet and we cannot wait to see how the season in 2023 pans out! It has been an honour to watch these runners work hard and see the results of their own determination and consistency. We would also like to thank our coaches Noel, Shan, Emma, Chloe, and Charli for their continued support and valued advice across the whole season - we could not have done it without your mentorship.
