Vive les crêpes !
Thursday 14th July we celebrated Bastille Day - the take-over of the Bastille prison in 1789 which heralded the beginning of the French Revolution.
The brain-child of our Languages Captains - Charlotte Green and Jesse Dooley - the Year 10, 11 and 12 French students cooked crepes and distributed them at lunchtime.
In the spirit of the French Revolution (Liberté! Égalité ! Fraternité !) the crepes were FREE and distributed to all who lined up (except the unfortunate few who missed out when we ran out of crepes!), creating a real community spirit.
Un grand merci beaucoup to:
- la magnifique Mrs Gwen Haritonidis who mixed up all the batter to allow us enough time to cook 100 crepes in two periods
- Paula and Frances our assistants in Food Technology who gave valuable culinary advice
- Madame Pradier who donated lemons
- Monsieur Wilkinson who sourced the ingredients and toppings
- Monsieur Wilkinson and Monsieur Darling for crowd control.
Merci beaucoup also to our Technology Captain Ash McCrae, Mackenna Pasinati, Georgina Peters and Oscar Geddes, all VCE students who volunteered their time on the day to help with cooking, serving, crowd control and cleaning up.
Le plus grand merci goes to Charlotte Green for her beautiful promotional posters, perfect French playlist and her passion for French and for her role as Languages Captain.
Vive le français.
