The Gift Purple Day

On Wednesday 7th June, we held our annual Purple Day to help raise money for The Gift in Kyabram and surrounding towns, for people who suffer from cancer or know people who are currently receiving treatment. In total we raised $1,170.30. On this day the whole College community was encouraged to wear purple and bring a gold coin donation. We had several activities on the day for everyone to get involved in. Despite the wet weather, we had a great day.
To help raise awareness and excitement for the day, we held a ‘guess how many lollies in the jar’ competition. This was really popular with the entire school community. We had guesses ranging from 20 to 100,000. The correct answer was 165. We had two winners who guessed the exact amount. Congratulations to Jamison O and Hunter M.
These two students shared the prize.
Sausage sizzle: On Wednesday 7th June, we bought 800 sausages for purple day fundraising for The Gift. We eventually sold up to 728 sausages for the whole school community of St Augustine's College. As most of us were doing Hospitality (VET) in Nathalia on the day we were short staffed, so we asked the 7-9 Partnerships class if they could do the sausage sizzle and they kindly agreed. We thank Mr Poppa, Mr Carver, Elle and the 7-9 Partnerships students for their help cooking and serving the sausages in the rain. We appreciated all their help and support.
Raffle:
In preparation for the day, on Wednesday 31st May, we went down to the supermarket to buy heaps of chocolate to have a huge raffle for Purple Day. We had 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th prizes, with 1st prize being a massive bunch of chocolate. We were selling raffle tickets for 1$ for two tickets, raising $528.65 combined with the sausage sizzle.
Winners of the raffle were:
1st Wynter Y
2nd Vlad M
3rd Mrs Guerra
4th Mrs Goode
On behalf of the VPC class, we thank the College community for their support and helping raise money on Purple Day to support The Gift and the Kyabram Community.
