Library Lessons
This week we have listened to the book Our Dreaming by Kirli Saunders. This book has been shortlisted by the CBCA for best Picture Book category for 2023. The beautiful, soft illustrations by Deb Leffler ask us to think about what it means to be On Country. What are our responsibilities? What do we feel and see out on our country?
Students did illustrations of animal tracks and made patterns with the tracks.
Last week, our Foundation students listened to a book in Language about Molly the pig called Moli Det Bigibigi by Karen Manbulloo. They loved repeating the words after the teacher and waiting for the pig to grow bigger than the dogs. Students drew their own picture of Molly to decorate our library.
Overdue Books
As we approach the end of term, it is really important to get overdue books back to the library. We currently have a quarter of our school students with an overdue book. Some of these have been missing for quite a while. We need these books to be used by the whole school community.
Could you please ask your children about what they have borrowed and if they know where it is. Some students may need help finding the books they borrowed. We will send slips to teachers on Monday to go home with lists of what is still due back.
Holidays
During the last week of term, we will encourage students to take an extra book home for the holidays. The weather this year has certainly been an encouragement to find a warm cosy spot and curl up with a book. We have plenty of new books ready to go at the moment and enjoy seeing students get excited about taking home a brand new book.
