School Advisory Council

Each week you will find a brief bio on School Council members.

This week: Michael Kearton

About Me:

My name is Michael Kearton, father of Oliver, Noah, and Lumi who attend this school. I have several roles here as a teacher, namely as a classroom teacher, sports teacher, and lead teacher.

I attended this very school from grades 3-6. After working in other parts of North East Victoria and then living and teaching in Finland for 3 years, I returned to Beechworth to settle with my family in 2014 and have been working here since.

Why I am on/ value the School Advisory Council:

I have a deep commitment to the school after attending, working, and sending my own children here. The school council is a great opportunity to capture the input of the parent community and to help steer the school in a positive direction.

What do you love about St. Joe’s:

We love the close, friendly, and relaxed atmosphere at St Joseph’s. The fact that all the teachers know, and are in contact with all of the children, creates a wonderful community and a ‘family-like’ feel that you can’t necessarily replicate in other schools.
