Principal’s Message

Mrs Katherine Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we celebrate our school feast day on Friday 16 June - the Feast of the Sacred Heart. This is a time to reflect on what makes our school unique and look for ways to show care and respect to others, be helpful and kind as well as demonstrate faith, sincerity, sacrifice and love. As a part of our feast day celebrations, we had the opportunity to recognise Frances and Bill Jackson for their contribution to our school community, with our student recipients of the Feast of the Sacred Heart Awards for 2023 being Rex Plevey (K-2) and Grace Groves (3-6).

In 2023 there have some curriculum reform made to the English and Mathematics syllabi for K-2, with further reform to be implemented in 2024 for Yrs 3-6. As a result, there will be changes made to how we report on English and Mathematics for K-2 this year and Yrs 3-6 next year. To assist with understanding these changes for K-2, we will be holding a Parent Information Session next Tuesday 20 June from  3-3:30pm.

Following our extraordinary PTF meeting on Tuesday, I am pleased to announce that Mrs Leah Rees has been appointed to the position of PTF Secretary.  We will also be holding our next School Advisory Council meeting on Tuesday 20 June at 5:30pm.

Transition for 2024 has commenced and we are very happy to welcome our new Kindergarten students for next year.

If you know of anyone wishing to enrol their child for 2024 and participate in the transition program this year, please let me know. Program details and enrolment forms are available by contacting Ms Traynor in the Office.

If you know of anyone who is intending to enrol at Sacred Heart either in Kindergarten or any other year group for 2023, please encourage them to contact me at school.

Happy birthday to Harry Stevens who turned 9 on 13 June and Ava Stevens who turned 11 on 15 June. We hope you enjoyed your day!

Take care,

Kath Baird
