Principal's Report

Thank you

I just wanted to send out a huge thank you to our staff, parents and students for coping so well during the 'circuit breaker' lockdown we have just been through.

Nobody wanted to have to move into Remote Learning so early in our school year, but our ability to cope with the change and keep the learning progression going for all of our students was very impressive. We were pleased that the pre-planning we had done as a school made the transition into a sudden lockdown fairly smooth for most students.

Whilst we hope we don't have to go into lockdown again during the year, being ready to transition into it in a calm and natural way for our students is important for minimising stress and maintaining good learning outcomes.

As we celebrate being able to return to school, I think it is very apt to share the following piece of writing from Xavier in 4B:

Doughnut Day Recipe

By Xavier 4B 17/2/2021

Ingredients:

  • Face Masks
  • Soap
  • Hand Sanitiser
  • COVID Tests
  • Positivity
  • Resilience
  • Hope

Method:

  1. Wear masks outside of your house.
  2. Stay 1.5 metres away when in enclosed space with crowds of people.
  3. Use hand sanitiser or wash your hands with soap as much as you can.
  4. Stay at home and within your 5km radius.
  5. Get tested if you or someone you have been with has symptoms or COVID-19.
  6. Keep in contact with friends and family using apps like FaceTime, Messenger and Zoom.
  7. Stay positive and stay hopeful.
  8. Mix these all together during a 5 day snap lockdown and you’ll end up with wonderful and sweet doughnut days.

Sunsmart reminder

Just a reminder during this hot and sunny week that is extremely important that we are sunsmart at school. Making sure your child has a Kalinda hat with them at school each day. Sending along sunscreen for them to apply is also a really important practice at this time of year.

2022 Enrolments

Enrolments

Enrolments are now open for 2022 and it would be great to start receiving your enrolment forms for students beginning in Foundation (or at other levels next year). The sooner we receive enrolments, the sooner we can begin planning for next year. Please find the enrolment form below and it can be sent to the school via post (Kalinda Primary School, 39-49 Kalinda Rd, Ringwood 3134) or by email to kalinda.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au

For any new families to the school please contact the school via email kalinda.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au or phone 9876-3289 and we will send you information about the school and organise a 1-on-1 video conference with you.

We are kind. We are resilient. We are respectful.
