FRAU SOPHIA KENT

What a wonderful start to the German Program we have had this year!

In Week 1 we welcomed our new German Language Assistant, Sophia Kent, to Rangeview. Frau Kent will work at Rangeview on Mondays and Tuesdays and at Mullauna Secondary College on Wednesdays and Thursdays. She will assist the German teachers and students to enhance the German Program by furthering students’ German language skills, working with students individually, in small groups or with the whole class. We look forward to a fabulous year of learning German at Rangeview!

Frau Kent has kindly written to the Rangeview School Community in both German and English:

Liebe Gemeinschaft der Rangeview Grundschule!

Ich heiße Sophia Kent und werde dieses Jahr als Fremdsprachen-Assistentin im Fach Deutsch bei Rangeview arbeiten.

Ich bin in Deutschland, im Bundesland Rheinland-Pfalz geboren und aufgewachsen. Da ich selbst zweisprachig, Englisch und Deutsch erzogen wurde, habe ich schon sehr früh meine Leidenschaft für Sprache und Kommunikation entwickelt. Daher habe ich nach meinem Abitur 3,5 Jahre Logopädie studiert und meinen Bachelor Abschluss im Jahr 2015 erhalten. Im Jahr 2016 bin ich nach Bayern gezogen um dort als Logopädin zu arbeiten, aber auch um Deutschland aus einer neuen Perspektive kennenzulernen! Ich habe sehr viel mit Kindern in Kindergärten und Schulen, aber auch mit Erwachsenen in einer Praxis und in Seniorenheimen gearbeitet. Die Arbeit als Logopädin hat mir sehr viel Freude bereitet!

Seit Oktober 2018 lebe ich nun in Melbourne und ich freue mich sehr darauf die Kinder in diesem Jahr beim Deutsch Lernen zu unterstützen! Zusammen mit den beiden Deutschlehrerinnen Frau Ulrike Lindner und Frau Megan Taylor wird der Deutsch-Unterricht einfach klasse!

Dear Community of Rangeview Primary School!

My name is Sophia Kent and this year I am going to be the German Language Assistant at Rangeview.

I was born and raised in Germany, in the state of Rhine-Palatinate. Because I myself was brought-up bilingual, German/English, I very soon developed a passion for language and communication. Hence after completing my A-Levels I studied speech pathology for 3,5 years and I received my Bachelor degree in 2015. In 2016 I moved to Bavaria to work as a speech pathologist, but also to explore a different region in Germany! I worked a lot with children in kindergardens and primary schools but also with adults in a private practise or homes for the old aged. I enjoyed working as a speech pathologist a lot!

Since October 2018 I have been living in Melbourne and I am very excited to be supporting the children with German this year. Together with the two German Teachers Mrs Ulrike Lindner and Mrs Megan Taylor German class will be just fantastic!

INTRODUCING OUR 2021GERMAN CAPTAIN, SISLEY

We are also delighted to have the assistance of our 2021 German Captain, Sisley.

Sisley has demonstrated a wonderful passion and enthusiasm towards her German language learning throughout her primary years at Rangeview. She has participated in the German Poetry Competition in both Year 4 and 5 with excellent results.

Sisley has also written a fabulous introduction about herself in German and English. Enjoy!

Hallo liebe Eltern, Lehrer und Kinder!

Mein Name ist Sisley und ich bin der deutsche Kapitän für 2021. Ich freue mich sehr, dass ich in meinem siebten und letzten Jahr bei Rangeview der deutsche Kapitän sein kann.

Ich liebe Sport, weil ich Tennis und Basketball spiele. Ich mag Musik und die Herausförderung verschiedene Instrumente zu spielen. Ich war auch sehr daran interessiert, eine neue Sprache zu lernen, weil sie mich aktiv hält und mir viel Spaß macht. Deutsch ist neben Englisch und Mandarin die dritte Sprache, die ich sprechen kann. Ich bin so stolz auf mich, weil es wirklich cool ist, mehrere Sprachen sprechen zu können.

Ich lerne gerne Deutsch bei Rangeview, weil es mir die Möglichkeit gegeben hat, eine neue Kultur zu entdecken, interessante Aktivitäten zu machen und mehr über die Menschen in Deutschland zu erfahren.

Ich erinnere mich noch an die Zeit, als ich in der Vorbereitungsklasse war. Der ersten Wörter, die ich auf Deutsch gelernt habe, waren ,Guten Tag’ und ich erinnere mich wie aufgeregt ich war, als ich meine ,Schultüte’ bekommen habe.

Ich hoffe, dass Covid-19 uns dieses Jahr nicht aufhalten wird, damit wir in großes Oktoberfest feiern können, bei dem wir deutsche Hüte basteln und großartige Aktivitäten rund um unsere Schule durchführen können. Wir werden auch ,Schultüten’ für unsere ,Foundation Freunde’ machen.

Ich freue mich auf ein tolles Schuljahr mit vielen deutschen Aktivitäten, Ereignissen und Feste.

Hello dear Parents, Teachers and Children!

My name is Sisley and I am the German Captain for 2021. I am very excited that I can be the German Captain in my 7th and last year at Rangeview.

I love sports, as I play tennis and basketball. I enjoy music and like the challenge of playing different instruments. I also have been keen on learning a new language, because it keeps me active and brings me lots of fun.

German is the third language that I can speak, along with English and Mandarin. I am so proud of myself, because being able to speak multiple languages is really cool.

I enjoy learning German at Rangeview because it has given me the opportunity to explore a new culture, to engage in interesting activities and to know more about the people living in German. I still remember back when I was in Prep. The first words I learned in German were ‘Guten Tag’(Good Day), and I remember how excited I was to receive my, Schultüte’.

I am hoping that Covid-19 won’t stop us this year, so that we can have a big Oktoberfest celebration, where we make German hats and do awesome activities around our school. We will also be making ‘Schultüten’ for our ‘Foundation Buddies’.

I am looking forward to having a great school year together with lots of German activities, events and celebrations.
