Flexible. Resilient. Positive. 2021

Lock Down

We have weathered the storm of COVID in 2020 and now we are in lock down and we can do this again. So be kind to yourself and your family and take a moment to be grateful for the small things in life. As the great philosopher Dolly Parton said 'You can't have the rainbows without the rain'.

Class Ambassadors

Thank you to all the parents who nominated to be Class Ambassadors this year. We are in the process of collating expressions of interest but there is still time if you are interested. You can also share the position with another parent in the grade. We need at least one class ambassador per grade.

Parent Help Needed in the Library

Our well-resourced library relies on parent help to cover new books and return books to the shelves. Lynette Ellis is our library technician and she would appreciate any help she can get with this. So if you can share some time to help, the library is open at 9 am until 9:30 am Tuesday to Friday for parents to help return books to the shelves or cover new books. If you would prefer to take home the new books to cover please contact Lynette through the office. This is dependent on our return to school later this week.

COVID safe plan when parents are on site:

Sign in at the office

Hand sanitise before handling the books

Physically distance

Wear a mask

And we keep safe!

Junior School Council Reps (JSC)

Our first Junior School Council representatives met on Thursday with Mr Sam Anderson and myself. They are a very keen group of students and they will be led by Ella and Lucas, our Student Voice leaders. Fundraising ideas and projects will be decided on and action taken.  It is important to hear our students’ thoughts and ideas in an authentic way. The students have to gather opinion from their classes and bring this back to the committee. First action: to have 2 icy pole days to raise money. This student council will decide on how this is used as a community project and as a school project.

School Council - Notice of Election and Call for Nominations 2021/23

Nominations opened on Friday 12th February for a two year position on the Rangeview Primary School Council.  This is an opportunity to be actively involved in your child’s education. There are six vacancies for the Parent Member category (two year position). And there are three vacancies for one year positions.

Nomination forms can be obtained at the office or emailed to you. The nomination forms must be lodged by 4pm on Friday, 19th February. Should a ballot be required the ballot will close at 4pm on Friday, 12th March. This will allow the new School Council to elect the office bearers for 2021 at the March meeting. We have allowed extra time for nominations if needed.

Last year we held school council meetings via WebEx. I anticipate that remote meetings may continue.

START UP

Over first weeks of the school year, we run the Start Up Program in every grade. During this time the children get to know each other really well, realising that we are all individuals and need to be respected for our unique talents and skills. This program establishes a firm base of the school values.  We are all members of the Rangeview community; students, staff and parents and as such have a right to be cared for and be safe, but also have responsibilities for the care, safety and wellbeing of others and the environment. Our buddy classes are meeting up and learning about each other.

Classroom libraries are established with input from students on how the books are sorted. This is in preparation for Reading Workshop and Writing Workshop under the instructional model- I do, We do, You do.

Level 6/7 Transition

I remind parents with current level 5 students to visit secondary schools and open days/nights remotely or in person. It is important to develop knowledge of the options available to make an informed decision for your child's further education.

Foundation Families Picnic in Term 1- Date to be Announced
