Eating Times

Eating - A Time to Come Together
At Curiosity, the children have an opportunity to eat with a group of children and an Educator up to 5 times a day. These times are considered important moments where conversation about healthy food, eating habits and general discussions are enjoyed.
According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare’s 2020 report on Australia’s health, around two-thirds (67 per cent) of adults and one-quarter (25 per cent) of children and adolescents are overweight or obese.
The Australian Government’s Department of Health says almost half of all Australians have health conditions that can be prevented with a healthier and more active lifestyle.
With these statistics, it is important that we set an example for our children and guide them with providing a variety of wholesome foods in an environment that promotes independence and choice.
As you prepare your child's lunchboxes we would ask that you support your child by:
- Packing food in containers that they can open independently. Practising at home is a great idea.
- Pre-opening seals on yoghurt containers with lids and cutting the tops off bananas.
- Keeping high processed foods such as chips, chocolate, cake, muffins, biscuits and lollies for special occasions,
- Having drink bottles filled with fresh cold water daily.
