From the Principal

FAREWELL

We say Thank you and Farewell to Ramona Day and Lindey Hopkins who have both made the decision to retire.

Both teachers have been at Hampstead Primary School for many years and have contributed so much to the education of many, many students over the years.

On behalf of all staff past and present at Hampstead Primary I thank them for their dedication and commitment and also wish them both a very long and happy “new life” in retirement.

We have come to the end of what has been a very different and challenging year for us all.

We began the year with the devastating effects of the arson attack that left our entire Admin block inaccessible with the loss of many resources and every classroom in the  H block affected.

I want to acknowledge the strength of each and every staff member - who all took on a “We Can Do It” attitude and went about the business of setting up learning environments that were ready for our students on day 1.

They have worked for an entire year with the inconvenience of having a much smaller admin office, no Art room or dedicated staff room and the West Wing classrooms being totally isolated physically from the rest of the school.

All this – and then COVID!

They took on the challenge of providing both face to face and on line learning for our students and provided opportunities for every family to maintain regular contact via class platforms such as Dojo or Seesaw.

Our schools, students and families have all been in very good hands – our student learning data indicates significant improvements in learning outcomes for our students – particularly in our focus areas of Reading Comprehension, Maths and Phonics.

I am pleased to announce that we will be retaining most of our staff next year so we will be well placed to continue with our improvement journey.

I wish every student and their family a safe and happy holiday.

Good luck to those of you who will be moving to new schools – and we look forward to seeing all our returning and new students next year.

 Stay safe!

Warm regards,

Joy
