We have had a wonderful start to 2021 in the spectacular Marian Science Department! We have the Gr8 Comprehension program and now we also have the SuperSeven science teachers and laboratory technician who all have expertise and experience in the senior courses. They will move that expertise through all the junior classes to build massive brain power.
The Year 10 started their study of Genetics. A topic that is always interesting and particularly given the Covid-19 pandemic and the new strain that has been identified by its genes. Not only is there a massive amount to be learned but also we discuss the many social and ethical issues that need to be addressed. 10.5 had a lesson on amino acids, polypeptides and proteins help them understand the intelligent way that the DNA codes for the proteins that are needed in all animals.

Information from Geoscience Australia showed the earthquake happened at a depth of ten kilometres.
More than 140 people made reports to Geoscience Australia about the earthquake, mostly coming from Gungahlin and over the border in Sutton.
One person in Yass and another in Gundaroo also reported feeling the earthquake.
You too can monitor earthquakes around the world by accessing the schools seismometer on the link below and type the code letters AUGRF
