Students will complete an activity in their chosen focus in the morning, lunch is being provided free of charge and then they will go into another activity in their chosen focus in the afternoon. The Construction activities will focus on Carpentry skills using the latest technology. The Medical and Clinical Procedures’ group will complete activities related to medical clinical procedures in the morning (simulating venipuncture, wound dressing, auscultation of body sounds, blood pressure) and in the afternoon simulating mixing antibiotics, giving injections, medication calculations and priming of an intravenous line. Students must see Mr. Crosbie ASAP to collect the necessary information and permission forms.

Year 9 Subject Selection Day – Thurs. 12th Oct

Congratulations to all the students and parents who came along and made the subject selection day such a success. Overwhelming feedback from parents who participated was that it was highly worthwhile. Based on feedback throughout the day we are already looking at how we can build on this and the Career Action Planning process in the coming year.

A number of parents commented that they really enjoyed the opportunity to sit down with their child and consider what they would like to do in the future and how they might get there. There are extensive research studies that show having (and setting) ‘aspirations’ is a major contributor to student satisfaction and success. It doesn’t matter what those aspirations, are or even if they change, the goal setting and direction that this provides improves motivation and achievement.
