MCKINNON HOUSE CROSS COUNTRY

A cloudy day gave runners perfect conditions on Friday 27 April for the McKinnon House Cross Country Event. The theme this year was "Rainbow" with runners wearing a variety of colours from the rainbow. Each student brought in a gold coin donation where we raised over $1,200.00 for Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation supporting children's organ donation.

YEAR 7 GIRLS TENNIS REPORT

On Friday 4 May, the Year 7 Girls team drove to Dendy Park for a day packed with tennis. The five players were Valeria Camacho Acevedo, Azumi Hosako, Alessia Frantzis, Eliza Hackett-Smith and Jolee Sacks. We played some very challenging teams like Berwick and Frankston but we had great determination and consequently we won many matches. Unfortunately, we found Beaumaris too strong in the Final but we were very happy with our fabulous team effort to finish SMR Regional Runners Up. Congratulations to Alessia who won all her singles games over the day. We received the Red Southern Metropolitan Region pennant and will display it proudly in the Year 7 area. A big thank you to Mrs Hooper and Adam Laskaridis for their support and awesome coaching on the day. We are determined to go one better next year!

YEAR 8 GIRLS TENNIS REPORT

On Friday 4 May the Year 8 Girls Tennis team set off to Dendy Park to compete in the Southern Metro Regional competition. Even though the weather was appalling, we lifted our spirits and played on. We advanced to the Final by defeating Berwick and Frankston, where we played Dromana. With great enthusiasm we gained victory with one close loss and five wins!! We are all very happy to be SMR Champions two years in a row. Roll on the State Finals in November. Thank you to Mrs Hooper and Sam Bajracharya for their fabulous coaching and support during the day.

SENIOR BASEBALL

The Senior Boys took to the diamond in earnest on a perfect Autumn (Fall) day for Australia's favourite American past time.

Highlights included Harry Mouzakis taking catch of the day in the outfield with only a nonchalant nod to the dug out to celebrate his achievement.

New recruit Nicholas IIda-Reed and stalwart Josh Meyer slugged their way home while our captain Liam 'Doug' Taffe tried his hardest to get to first base but alas, like so many teenagers, fell short in a dubious umpiring decision.

In the end our boys fell to Hallam but showed outstanding grit (Pitsa calls it resilience) and ensured their opponents went home with dirty nickabockers to keep brand power ads on the tele for another week. Watch out for the trending hashtag #knickerbockersoutforxav as one our young men fell to the pressures of a two week Mathematics SAC and sadly missed the day. A shout out to Ben who made up for his lack of rule knowledge with his never-ending banter.

SENIOR GIRLS SOFTBALL

The Senior Girls Softball team travelled to Cheltenham for the Southern Metro Regionals on Wednesday 2 May. We battled hard and ended up finishing 4th, scoring eight runs in our three games. Ace pitches Olivia Whitehead (Year 11) and Alex Enever (Year 11) dismissed 30 opposing batters over the course of the day with help from some solid catching and ground fielding.
