MATHS PATHWAY

Introducing Belinda Rutherford - Maths Pathway tutor

Belinda grew up in rural Victoria (Goulburn Valley) and has recently followed her heart to Melbourne. She has spent the last 11 years working as a Numeracy Tutor in two secondary schools in Shepparton. Her time has been spent in Maths classrooms, working with small groups of students or one-on-one to help students excel in their learning. This year, Belinda has been focused on implementing the Maths Pathway Program at her previous school and is very excited to be able to continue her love of the program here at Footscray. She looks forward to meeting everyone and helping them succeed.

When can students access Belinda’s support?

Belinda will be spending her time between all Year 7 & 8 Maths classes (as this is where the Maths Pathway learning model is being used). Each class should see Belinda at least once a fortnight. Students with low growth in a learning cycle (mastering less than 3 modules in a test) are encouraged to attend homework club in the library after school (Tues - Thurs until 4:30pm) to get extra help from Belinda there.

What will Belinda be doing in our classes?

Belinda will be in classes helping facilitate the Maths Pathway learning cycle (see image below). At any given time in the cycle she may be: taking mini-lessons where students tackle concepts in small groups based on what they’re ready for; conducting feedback sessions on test performance and study skills, or goal-setting to improve results.
