College Production | Term 4 Update

As the end of this ghastly year is in sight, we have some wonderful news we can officially share with you – our Wheelers Hill Community!

Our Production 2020 is going ahead! But not how you may think. With theatres still under strict restrictions as the world is slowly getting back on its feet – we have devised a plan… a Practically Perfect one.

Students involved in Production 2020 will be collaborating on a filmed music video style cabaret event spectacular. With interviews with cast members, some character scene work and famous songs reimagined around the school grounds, this film will be a celebration of the Performing Arts, community spirit, and lots of hard work. Filming has started and will be taking place over weekends in the next few weeks – busy and exciting times ahead!

The film will be ready to share in the last week of the school year – via a link on our Compass Newsfeed. An event will also be shared on Facebook for you to join – so make sure you are following the school social media pages so you can attend the online event, share your Production Premiere selfies and engage in the banter!

It’s been an enormous year, learning how to overcome obstacles. I’m tremendously proud of the students involved in the Performing Arts for their resilience and passion, and I’m looking forward to ending my time at Wheelers Hill working with them on this unique project.

WHSC | 40th Birthday Celebrations

2020 marks the 40th birthday of Wheelers Hill Secondary College, and our past and present community are invited to help us celebrate this landmark anniversary.

In 2020, Wheelers Hill Secondary College turns 40 years young! Due to the ongoing restrictions on assembly caused by COVID-19, we're celebrating this historic occasion with several small events, released digitally, in order to keep our community safe. A larger birthday celebration is planned for 2021.

The first event to mark this anniversary is a special Birthday Message Wall, which is now live on our College website! This page contains messages from alumni, parents, and staff across the College's 40 year history, and we thank the contributors for their kind wishes and memories.

WHSC Big Campout | Saturday, November 14th

The WHSC SRC are supporting the National Homeless Collective by asking students to participate in a remote camp-out in their own homes on the evening of Saturday the 14th of November, where people can choose to sleep in their backyards or just out of their bedroom in order to raise awareness and funds for this important cause. We’d love for as many families to participate as possible!

Given that safety guidelines in 2020 prevent us from hosting the sleep-out at school, Wheelers Hill Secondary College cannot provide supervision of students, so we ask that parents ensure students are participating safely if they choose to take part in this event. Please see the attached flyer for details and get in touch with student reps Molly D, Chloe K or Molly P if you have any questions about how to support this very important cause!
