Classroom News

Junior Class

The Junior students have had a fun filled time with maths this week.  We have been learning about shapes and have created some interesting characters and figures using all different kinds of 2D and 3D shapes.  In reading and writing we have continued on with the book ‘Girl on Wire’ and have been learning about adverbs.  We have also been adapting a sentence from the book to write our own sentences.  In Religion we have begun to wrap up our unit on community and solidarity and we have started to look at ways that we might show compassion and care for those in the school and community who might have been through something we have experienced as well.  Just like the way that the innkeeper in our scripture piece was able to feel compassion for Mary and Joseph, allowing them to stay in the stable in Bethlehem.

Senior Class

The Senior students have started a Bird project linking Integrated Studies, Writing and Art topics.  Everyone has been so engaged and excited about our new project, the students have engaged in a lot of rich discussions and research.  It’s been a lot of fun exploring what will attract birds and the various ways we can create bird baths, bird feeders and bird boxes.  The students are working in three groups and I’m so proud of the cooperation and leadership I’ve seen this week.  Well done Seniors!  Stay tuned for further updates about this project!

I want to say a big thank you to Wayne Cannell for creating our very first bird box with Jack, and also a huge thank you to Wayne Pilgrim for his incredible help cutting up wood for our bird boxes (Mrs P and I really had no idea where to start!)

Little Joey

This week we continue to acknowledge the significant role of the "Brown Joeys" in the establishment of St Patrick's School, and recognised Elvi, Olive, Jack and Zara with Little Joey awards.

Our Little Joeys receive a certificate, sticker and a voucher/goods donated by a local business.  This week's vouchers were donated by Cambrelle's and Wimmera Bakery.  We are very grateful for the contributions from our local businesses.  Editor's note Jack disappeared before we took the photo!
