Mental Health Week: Year 12 Soccer Match

Celebrating Mental Health Week was even more important to our community this year and what better way to celebrate resilience, persistence and connectivity than with a soccer match! The Year 12 cohort was more than happy to get on board and as the team numbers swelled, so too did the sense of excitement and House rivalry! Two mighty teams were formed - Aherne, Frew and Jenkin under the eagle eye of Captain Will McKinstry (12 Aherne) and Jones, Millward and Riley being captained by Josh Woods (12 Riley).

As the teams hit the ground it was apparent that it would be a hard-fought contest. Our referees, Leo Hams (12 Jones) and Mr Ben Furphy, had their work cut out for them as the game heated up. For the first half, it looked like Jones/Millward /Riley would be victorious being 2 goals to nil but in the last 15 minutes of the game, the Aherne/Frew/Jenkin team scored three goals in quick succession. Congratulations to all players - it truly was a wonderful way to kick off Mental Health Week at Girton!

A huge thank you to Leo Hams and Mr Furphy for their assistance on the day.
