Sports Excellence Programme

The Girton Sports Excellence Programme has relished the wonderful weather we have been blessed with the past fortnight, with both morning and afternoon groups making the most of the new guidelines and enjoying the challenge of exercising outside. The Girton Sports Excellence Programme is informed by the latest study of human locomotion which shows that how well we move is a function of appropriate diaphragm activation, along with the integration of information coming from our eye and inner ear systems. As such, we have been able to effectively accommodate this style of training outside. Attached are some photos that were taken during training.

“In 2011–12, less than one-quarter (23%) of children aged 5–14 undertook the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity every day.

On average, children aged 5–14 spent more than 2 hours (123 minutes) each day sitting or lying down for screen-based activities.“
