Kinder Transition

On Friday November 30, Ms Thornton welcomed the Foundation students of 2021 into the classroom for the first time.

The theme for their first day was teddy bears. The Foundation students all brought theirs along for the first session and Ms Thornton, students and teddy bears all went on a tour of the College, including getting to meet Mr McClure's polar bear teddy!

The new students also got to have a teddy bear's picnic before heading home for the afternoon!

Foundation & Year 5/6 Buddies

Last Friday the 5/6 class restarted the Buddy Program with the Foundation students.

The students buddied up and explored Jigsaw Planet together and got to share their knowledge of computers with each other. This week they will be looking at the Reading Comprehension program ‘Ziptales’ that both classes will use in 2021.

3/4 Class

The 3/4 students have been learning about capacity and volume in Maths. This week, we tried measuring different liquids. We used honey, milk, dishwashing liquid and oil. Then we added all of these liquids to a clear jug to measure their density.

We have also been working with our friends in 5/6 during our wellbeing sessions. These sessions include SWPBS lessons, collaboration and Bounce Back lessons. We have loved working in a larger, more collaborative environment. We have learnt a lot from the 5/6s!

5/6 Class

In the last couple of weeks the Year 5/6 students have explored measurement. As part of the lessons they experimented with kitchen scales and balancing scales to compare and measure accurately using formal units of grams and kilograms. They graphed their results using excel spreadsheets as well as bar graphs in their books.

5/6 Boys

While the Year 5/6 girls worked together with Mrs Eastwood on the ‘Butterflies’ program (a little like the secondary Flourishing program), the Year 5 boys had time collaborating and talking about issues relating to them. They achieved a great deal working together. One of the tasks was completing, together, a jigsaw in a limited amount of time.
