School Leaders
Our new school leaders were welcomed at Assembly this week with a thunderous applause.
The children were very excited to be standing in front of their peers and the smiles on their faces told the story of the joy they were feeling to be part of the leadership group. The leaders will be working very closely with the students and teachers to enable more student voice and agency across the school.
I would like to congratulate them all and wish them the very best in the roles they are about to undertake. I told them the story of my own leadership position being the Blue House Captain in primary school. I still have the badge tucked away in my drawer and I still recall the moment that I received my own badge at assembly. Read more about our leaders in the Captains' Corner section!
We are Learners
At Great Ryrie, one of our school values is 'We are Learners'. The children are recognised for the effort they put into their learning and also for having a growth mindset especially when learning new concepts. As teachers and leaders we are also learning and constantly trying to improve our practice.
On Thursday Miss Roberts and I attended a Network meeting for all the Maroondah primary and secondary colleges to learn more about working collaboratively in Professional Learning Communities. We are aiming to work in partnership with out network schools, sharing our expertise and pooling our knowledge together to bring about the best possible outcomes for our children.
New Arrival
On behalf of the staff and the Great Ryrie Community I would like to congratulate Kate Watson and Luke on the arrival of their beautiful baby boy Riley Blake, born on 2/2/2020. We look forward to meeting the latest addition to the Watson family.
Car Park and School Drop Off Zone
The school car park for parents and visitors is located at the far end of the school. The horseshoe in the staff car park can only be accessed in the morning by parents from 8:30am - 8:45am as a Drop Off Zone.
To ensure safe transitions for our children please use the pathway leading down to the parent and visitors car park running parallel to the Brian Allen Hall. As teachers have different work schedules they are leaving at varying times. It can very difficult to see children if they are walking between the cars.
Thank you for helping us to keep your children safe.
Drop Off Zone
The Drop Off Zone is there to provide parents and carers with a safe environment to drop off children from school by car. It also provides convenience for drivers and improve children’s safety.
Advantages for having a Drop Off Zone are that it relieves traffic congestion around the school by ensuring cars do not park illegally.
Allows smaller children to remain secured in the car while school age children are dropped off at school.
It also reinforces road safety messages and safe passenger behavior to parents and children.
Please note parking is not permitted in our reserved disability parking bay unless you have a current
Victorian Disability Permit displayed.
Have a wonderful weekend
