Instrumental Music Program 2020
Music staff at Bairnsdale Secondary College welcome back past students and offer a warm welcome to new students starting their musical journey in 2020 with the Instrumental Music Program. The Instrumental Music Program provides an opportunity for every student to learn a musical instrument. We offer tuition and rehearsal facilities on a range of band and orchestral instruments as well as voice and guitar.
The Music Centre is a wonderful asset of the College. Over the years, all of our ensembles have performed throughout the community, taking part in many special events with performances at:
- Jazz Festivals
- Local and interstate tours
- East Gippsland Music Workshops.
There is a wide range of bands and ensembles at the College:
- Senior Concert Band
- String Ensemble
- Senior Strings
- String Quartet
- Choir
- Pop/Rock Groups
- Improvisation Group
- Swing Band
- Intermediate Concert Band.
Lessons commence in Week three of Term 1 with all students attending their relevant ensemble rehearsal during the week. Lesson schedules will be displayed in the window of the Music Centre and all students will receive a copy of their schedule after Monday 10th February. This information is also available on Compass. Swing Band, Senior Concert Band, Intermediate Band and Choir have already begun rehearsals. We would also like to extend a warm welcome to parents/carers who are interested in supporting our music students through the Parent Support Group.

Parent Information Evening
We welcome all new music students and families to attend the information session on Monday 10th February at 7.00pm in the Music Centre. This is also a great opportunity for anyone who is considering any aspect of our wonderful Music program to come and talk to music staff members.
Strings Students
Student timetables will be available to collect from the Music Centre from Monday 10th February.
College Choir - we love to sing!
Bairnsdale Secondary College has a wonderful school choir, where students can enjoy singing together in a group, develop musical skills and perform at College and community events. Choir rehearsals are held every Thursday at lunchtime in Room D10 (next to the Music Centre and Bus Loop). All students are welcome to join us! There are no auditions - just come along or chat with any teacher from Music. All VCE Music and singing students are required to attend. Students should bring their lunch to rehearsals.
