WRITING

Text type:  Writing a letter

We are getting to know your child as a writer and how they approach it.

Students were asked to write an introductory letter to their teacher expressing such things as their interests, hobbies, family, pets, hopes and dreams and, likes and dislikes.

We modelled the structure of a letter and discussed its features, e.g. salutation.

This is the same practice we apply when exploring different text types which include:  narrative, procedure, recount and information report.

Students develop the understanding that writing is done for a number of different purposes and for different audiences.

We teach writing through the '7 Traits' - this information has been provided to you and can support you when writing with your child. We will unpack the '7 Traits of Writing' throughout the year.
