Student Wellbeing

All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

OnPsych update

Late last year we moved our psychology assistance service over to OnPsych.  We have been waiting since then to be allocated a therapist to work within the school.  Unfortunately due to a nation wide shortage of psychologists they have been so far unable to allocate us a therapist.  We are hoping this situation will change soon.  If you have any concerns about your child's mental health please so not hesitate to reach out to myself or your child's classroom teacher.

Backflip Against Bullying Incursion

On Wednesday we were lucky enough to have the 'Backflip against Bullying Incursion' in our school hall.  Engaging students through parkour and acrobatics the Backflip against Bullying performance covered topics around bullying such as empowering  the bystander, exit strategies for the victim, deliberate social exclusion and the consequences of retaliation.  The students had an amazing time and loved the show while learning some important messages about bullying.

See some of our students thoughts about the incursion:

It was really cool.  It was funny and they did really cool backflips.  You shouldn't bullying because if everyone is not in on the joke then it can be mean.

It was really cool when they did backflips.  It sent a message out to everyone about not being a bully and taught people how to not be a bully.

I liked it how they told us about how to get help when you are getting bullied.  You can use the techniques that they taught us if you do get bullied.

I like the way to ignore people and not react when they are trying to be mean.  I also liked it when they told us about excluding people and that that could be bullying.  If people try to show and be funny but hurtful no-one will want to include them.  The acrobatics were really good and at the end they jumped over 20 kids and a teacher - it was very impressive!
