Term 4

ALL SCHOOLS STATE & TRACK FIELD

Well done to Joshua Unthank, Jackson Unthank, Caitlin Charles, William Charles and Noah Mills for representing WHC at the 2022 All Schools Track and Field Championships.

The Championships were held over two weekends - 29/10-30/10 & 5/11-6/11 where we had some great results from all students!

In weekend two Caitlin & William both competed in the 800m & both ran personal best times in their heats.

Noah also made his personal best in his 100m and 200m heat.

Caitlin made the final where she ran another personal best to finish 6th in the State for her age group.

Josh placed 2nd in the in the 1500m and 800m and ran personal best times in both races.

Jack placed 5th in the 1500m and 3rd in the 800m, with a personal best in the 800m.

From these results it was confirmed last week that Jack and Josh have been selected to represent Victoria at The Australian All Schools Track & Field Championships in Adelaide from December 9-11th.

Josh and Jack will both compete in the 800m and Josh will also compete in the 1500m.

GEELONG LAWN BOWLS COMPETITION

On Thursday 24th November, 13 students enthusiastically signed up to represent Western Heights College in the Geelong Schools Lawn Bowls Triples competition held at Highton Bowls Club.

The morning sessions saw the WHC students divided into two different pools and playing a best of four end format. After a delightful BBQ lunch prepared by the Highton Bowls Club the afternoon session saw the top teams from each pool play off against each other in the semi-finals with the winners progressing to the final. Unfortunately none of the Western Heights College teams made it through to the semi-finals, however they continued with some good form in the cross-over pool consolation final game.

Many thanks to all participants who conducted themselves in a most respectful and appropriate sporting manner. All students were most appreciative of the coaching, officiating and general encouragement of the Highton Bowls Club members who volunteered to help make the day an enjoyable learning experience. The WHC students have learnt that lawn bowls is a very skilful game that can be played by all ages and abilities. Congratulation goes to Bellarine SC No1 team who narrowly beat Belmont HS No1 team in the Grand Final game. Many of the students are now looking forward to representing the school in the Western Metropolitan Region competition held in Werribee early term one 2023.
