Above and Beyond

WHAT HAVE OUR PREPS BEEN UP TO?

We have been very busy in the Prep Learning Space, so many exciting things have happened!

Here are some of the highlights:

In Maths we did ordinal numbers and made our own AFL footy ladder, we moved the teams every week and noted what position our own teams were in. Now that it is finals time, we will use mathematical language to explain who plays who this week.

In Reading we are ahead of our Initial lessons so we are doing Phonics in Context by focussing on a picture story book and using it for some rich engaging learning. This week we are studying ‘Where is the Green Sheep?’ We have looked at nouns and verbs in the book and the rest of the week we will learn about adjectives and antonyms (opposites). We are also so excited about Book Week activities and dressing up on Friday.

After our excursion to Melbourne Museum we are even more interested in learning about dinosaurs. It was so much fun going on the bus and travelling to the city as well as seeing the real size of dinosaurs and the most fully formed dinosaur fossil of a triceratops.

We have started posting some of our work in our Seesaw journals and learning about how to use technology in our classroom. Seesaw is an app where students can take photos, draw and record themselves or their work and it is sent home to families for them to look at and comment on. It is so great that our learning is shared with home.

We can’t wait to see what the rest of the term brings!
