Learning and Teaching

Each year since 1945 the CBCA has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators. Classroom teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians create colourful displays, develop activities, run competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading. You will often see parades with students dressed as their favourite book character.

Our Book Week celebrations will take place this Friday, the 26th August.  Your children are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. The celebrations will include a costume parade, classroom activities centred around the 2022 shortlisted books and workshops with children's author and illustrator Susan Berran. Susan has written and illustrated several books, her books are 35% off until Friday 2nd September (see her advertisement on the Book Week page of the newsletter).

The costume parade will take place at about 9.05am and parents are welcome to attend. It will be held either on the basketball court or in the hall (depending on the weather).

Our students have been read all of the shortlisted books from the Early Childhood category and the age appropriate books from the Picture Book category. They have voted for their favourite and will be told the winning books on Friday.
