Positive Education Parent Workshop

As I mentioned in last fortnight's newsletter, we are hosting a parent worksop session on Monday 23rd of March at 7pm. This session will be looking at what having a Positive Growth Mindset means, and how this can influence the ways we approach tasks, how we celebrate achievements and how we tackle challenges. This workshop will be facilitated by Edwina Ricci, the head of Maroondah Positive Education Network. Please see the flier below for more details!

NAPLAN

It's almost getting to that time of year again, and NAPLAN is just around the corner for our year 3 and 5 students. NAPLAN is by no means the most important measure of what makes a child successful at school, and is certainly not something we want students or parents becoming anxious over.

This year, as with last year, students at RNPS will be completing the NAPLAN assessments online, with the exception of the Year 3 writing task, which is still a pen and paper task. Students in Year 3 will use school based iPads for the assessments, and Year 5's will use their own device. All students completing NAPLAN will need to have their own set of headphones to use.

We will be taking part in a State wide coordinated practice session in a few weeks time, so please don't be alarmed if your child comes home saying they did a NAPLAN test at school! This practice test will give us a chance to iron out any bugs at our end, and for the administrators of the test to check that they are also adequately prepared.

If you have any questions at all about NAPLAN, please feel free to speak to your child's teacher, or a member of the school leadership team.

Harmony Day Celebrations

Next Friday (20th of March) will be a day full of fun and activity as we come together to celebrate Harmony Day. The highlight of the day will be the Colour Splash at 2:30pm, but we also have our Connect Groups running from 12:30pm. The activities for the day have been developed by the Grade 6 students as part of their CBL unit, and it is bound to be an awesome way for our students to connect and have some fun together. We would love to see you there!
