Anyone wishing to make any payments prior to the school holidays are asked to do so before 12:00pm on Friday 27th due to the early dismissal and end of term procedures needing completion.

Please note that NO cash can be accepted on Friday 27th June. Only Credit Card or Eftpos can be accepted on the last day of Term.

If you have any concerns, please contact the office.

Lunch Orders

Parents please note that there has been some price changes to the Lunch Order Menu. Please find the new price list attached and on our school website for your printing convenience. Please dispose of old menus so incorrect orders are received.

When completing lunch orders, we ask the following steps are taken to ensure that your child receives the correct order.

  • Child's name, grade and order and any other specific requirements are clearly labelled on the brown paper bag.
  • Avoid using large amounts of sticky tape or staples to seal the bag as it makes it difficult to open without ripping and then using the bag to place the food items in.
  • Aim to place the correct money in your orders to avoid children loosing change. If change is required please inform your child in the morning so they are aware they need to place the change in a safe place you have discussed  (ie: school bag) and remember to bring it home.

No responsibility is taken by the school or lunch order shop for lost or stolen money.

Student Banking

A reminder that there is NO Student Banking in the first and last weeks of each Term.

Student Banking will resume in Term 3 on Thursday 24th July.

Uniform

Second Hand Uniform Stall

A big thank you once again to Rachel Marsden and Jayne Sullivan for their efforts in running another successful Second Hand Uniform Stall last week. Your time and effort is much appreciated.

Thank you also to those families who has donated second hand uniform to supply the stall. All your donations are greatly appreciate

Our only request is to please ensure all items are freshly-washed, with no holes, rips or bad staining. A good rule of thumb is to think “would I give this to a friend?”.

New Uniform Items

If you have any concerns at any time with new uniform items you may have purchased we ask that you please contact the office directly regarding these rather than PSW as most concerns can be dealt with on site.

Handy washing hints to prolong the life of your uniform items.

  • Avoid hot dryers in general but also warm dryers for long periods of time.
  • Avoid ironing directly over logo prints.
  • Avoid soaking/washing items in hot/warm water with Napisan/Vanish or similar product.

Year 4 Camp Changes -Reminder

A quick reminder to parents that the original dates of September 10th to 12th for the Year 4 Camp have had to be changed. This is due to the larger amount of students attending from Ormond this year.

Lady Northcote Camp has a number of different lodges, however the one that can cater better for group our size is not available on our original dates.

The camp will be rescheduled for a later date in November that are yet to be confirmed. Further information will follow once this has been received.

Year 3 Camp Information

There will be a Camp Information Evening for Year Three parents on Tuesday 22nd July at 5:30pm in Room 6.

Bike Education

Bike Education for Year 5 and 6 will be held each Thursday in Term 3 beginning on Thursday 31st July. No parent helpers will be required on this particular day.

However, to make the program a successful one, we will require as many helpers as possible on all the other days. You do not have to have a child in Year 5 or 6 to offer assistance.

There will be 2 sessions each Thursday;

                9:00 am to 10:30 am

                11:10 am to 12:40 pm

If you are able to help with either session, please let Mr. Pannam know as soon as possible. This would be greatly appreciated.  You don’t need Cadel Evans like qualities to assist!

Winter Sports Uniforms

Could we please have all football, soccer and basketball uniforms returned sparkly clean by the end of the Winter sport season.

Please return your uniforms to the coach you had this season.

Year 5 Camp

Year 5 went on the bus for an hour and a half drive to their camp destination, Lake Dewar.

We were welcomed by the YMCA staff, who showed us into our cabins. From our cabins we had a beautiful view of the lake. After we settled in we were straight into activities with our groups. The activities were canoeing, survival challenge (hut building & camp-fire cooking), dual flying fox and archery.

We woke up for another day of action including adventure tunnelling, kayaking, geocaching and amazing race. The favourite activities of the camp were dual flying fox because it was daring and a lot more fun than an average flying fox and adventure tunnelling because you didn't know what was up ahead. Each night we had a night activity which included a trivia night and movie night.

The food on camp was divine; it was like a home cooked meal. The only downside of camp was that it was too short.

Finally we grabbed our packed bags and said goodbye!!!

Giggle Day Success

What a laugh…..who was who?  Teachers had a difficult time on Wednesday in recognising their students. They came to school dressed in an amazing variety of unusual outfits in order to raise money for one of our favourite charities, State Schools Relief. This fund supports children in need with uniforms, books and school fees. A total of $440 was raised. The day was a huge success, a great giggle and a lot of fun. Thank you to everyone who participated and had fun.

Level 2 Water Cyclists Incursion

The grade one and twos were lucky enough to have a visitor from CERES to talk to us about water. The day consisted of many fun activities including a role play of the water cycle where we got to act out the different stages and learn words like evaporation, condensation and precipitation. We learnt just how little water there is in Australia and how we have to be careful not to waste it.

It was a fun day!

Ormond's Got Talent

Two weeks ago Ormond Primary hosted the 3rd

annual Ormond’s Got Talent contest.

Altogether we had 28 auditions of which the top 18 made it through to the live performance in front of the whole school. Although all of the contestants produced amazing and phenomenal performances, we could only have one winner.

With the help of our amazing celebrity judge panel made up of the teachers we know and love Mr Thompson, Mrs Shulman and Mrs Hosking, it was their hard job to choose the winners. After a nail biting 10 days and hours of deliberation we finally have the results.

  • Third Place -  Zoe T elegantly playing piano.
  • Second Place -  Ellie E singing ever so beautifully.
  • First Place  -  Ruby Mc with a very well choreographed dance.

Congratulations to all those who entered and we are sure next year will be even better.

Scouts Victoria 'Our School Raffle'

It is that time of year again for the Scouts Victoria 'Our School Raffle'.

Ticket books will be sent home to every family via the eldest child early next Term.

If you do not wish to receive a raffle book this year, please inform the Brodie in the office at your earliest convenience.

This is a great fundraiser for the school, as $1.50 from every $2.00 ticket sold is donated back to Ormond Primary. Last year we raised $2,239.50 which was a considerable increase from the years prior. Lets see if we can beat our record again this year!

The major prizes include brand new car, camper trailer or overseas holidays among many other spectacular prizes.
