Year 12 Art & Design Visual Arts Exhibition

Year 12 Art and Design Visual Arts Exhibition

Friday 12th October 2018

The Visual Arts department were very proud to showcase the artwork of all our Art, Studio Arts and Visual Communication Design students. It was a classy black and white event that took place in the B Corridor from 6pm until 8pm. The exhibition consisted of final artworks from Unit 3 and 4 coursework. The Year 12 students set up the show and were instrumental in the artistic flair created on the night.

Not only did we showcase the amazing talents of our VCE students but also the musical talent of Tom Coombes in Year 11, who played guitar throughout the show. There was wine, cheese and a lot of conversation about art. It was rewarding as teachers, to view the Year 12 artwork in a social setting rather than in the classroom. Guests had the unique opportunity of discussing the art with the artist directly, and this made for some very robust discussions.

The Acquisition Prize was awarded to Hannah Johannson for her technically refined and impressive oil painting, depicting a scene she constructed based around Vanitas; a reminder that mortality is a human condition. The painting will be purchased by the school and displayed in the foyer.

Thank you to the Year 12 students, staff and parents who attended and a special thank you to the Visual Arts staff who worked tirelessly to ensure the evening was successful.
