Term 2 started with the most exciting activity of all, school camp! It was an unforgettable experience for our Grade 3/4s, who experienced camp for the first time. Some of their most memorable things to cherish were: the banana bugs at our stop in Yarragon, the gaga ball pit, camp food, harnesses and giant swings, Rachelle, the alpaca, roasting marshmallows, bracelet beads, and of course, conquering one's fears!

Here are some snippets of their recounts about Allambee Camp:

Sunshine flowed through my window and onto my face, and I woke up. I looked at my diary and saw two words: Camp Today! I was so excited I jumped out of bed and made sure that I had everything, then I changed into my camp clothes and got ready to go. It was a very long two-hour drive. We stopped at a park, had a snack, and went to the toilet. After that, we kept ongoing. The higher we went, the narrower all the grade 3s thought we would die! They felt that we would die, but then they settled down. One of the five teachers, Mrs Drury, played music the whole way, so we had a bit of fun and a disco. When we reached camp, we met a person named Mel.

On Wednesday, April 27th, years 3 to 6 went on an exciting trip to Allambee Camp! On the bus, we were having fun! We stopped halfway there to have a break and eat our snack. At the park, we spotted bugs called banana bugs!

My friends and I picked up one of the banana bugs! When the banana bugs were crawling on me, it felt like someone was tickling me! After eating our snack, we went on the bus again and continued the road trip. We saw terrific views as we went up the mountain and small animals moving in the grass.

When we got to Allambee Camp, the Camp staff introduced us to them and what they do here. We went to each activity each day. My group's activities were a giant swing, billy karts, a vertical course, archery, a giant flying fox, and a climbing wall challenge. The first night for dinner, we had lasagne.

We had chicken parma with rice, corn, peas, and carrots for the second night. At breakfast, we ate cereal toast and pancakes and on the last day for lunch; we had wraps! Then we sadly had to pack our stuff and get onto the bus. On the bus, we listened to music. On the bus, we stopped at the park and greeted the banana bugs.
