Our Patch

from oragami to physical play - there's a lot that happens at Our Patch

Term 2

Term 2 and children have been busy in the OSHC programs. First-day back straight into making Mother’s Day gifts. Children brought out their incredible creative skills to decorate little vases/mugs and cards. So much colour they all looked amazing.

Extending on Mother’s Day, families had the opportunity to join in on our special High Tea Buffet Afternoon Tea; lovely to see all the Mums and their children.

There were many fun activities.  We learned to crochet small butterflies,  played an active game of Simon Says, had a good workout with online Zumba, and overall had a great afternoon of entertainment, laughing and having a good time. It was beautiful to see!

Making paer cranes

Children have been learning the art of paper folding, known as Origami. They have been busy creating a bird called a crane. Children expressed their knowledge of Origami by understanding that the crane has a special significance in Japanese culture.

The programs vary from week to week, offering science experiences, construction, art n craft, and more activities. Our new children have settled into our warm, caring & inviting Before & AfterSchool care sessions with a sense of belonging. It is great to see all Children laughing, having a fun time, and participating in activities with their peers throughout these sessions. Afternoon snacks have been delicious, and Fried Rice was the favourite dish of last week, alongside cheesy pasta, homemade chicken noodle soup, a grazing platter, and a healthy array of sandwiches.

Physical Play enhances gross motor skills, where children will develop healthy bones, muscles, and joints. They participated in a fun activity of jumping & hopping from hoop to hoop, challenging themselves by moving the ring further away each time, so they had to take a bigger jump and hop.  This activity also helped children take directions, with the leader calling when to jump and hop.
