Be Brave, Make Change

Celebrating National Reconciliation Week at LNPS 2022

It is with great pleasure that I write my first article as AET at LNPS.  I am looking forward to commencing this new role and continuing on the wonderful projects Alisha has been working on over the past few years.

National Reconciliation Week is celebrated from the 27th of  May until the 3rd of  June.

Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians – as individuals, students, teachers, families, communities, organisations and as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

By acknowledging and celebrating National reconciliation week we are striving towards a more just, equitable country by championing unity and mutual respect as we come together and connect with one another.

You can find more information from https://www.reconciliation.org.au/national-reconciliation-week/

The National Reconciliation Week 2022 theme is ... Be Brave. Make Change.

This theme is a challenge to all Australian's to make change beginning with brave actions in their daily lives.

At LNPS students will be acknowledging and celebrating National Reconciliation Week in the following ways:

  • Discussing the meaning of Reconciliation.
  • Exploring Australia's history and the discussing the impacts this has on modern day.
  • A special display on the oval  (watch this space).
  • A fundraiser for Children's Ground. A non-profit organisation creating a different future with First Nations children, families and communities experiencing the greatest levels of disadvantage.

Wear it Yellow for Children's Ground

On Friday, 3rd June the students are invited to wear something yellow and bring in a gold coin donation to raise money  for not-for-profit organisation Children's Ground.

The funds raised will go towards the first nations children, their families and communities to help with their health education and cultural development.
