OSHClub

What’s been happening at OSHC?

Our theme this term is all about exploring our identity as we learn to successfully negotiate play through a range of creative experiences that foster curiosity and imagination. Over the past fortnight we have also been exploring student agency and decision making throughout our after school clubs.

Busy Bees Crafting Club

Mareen and Nadia have loved participating in our Busy Bees Crafting Club. Using natural materials from our local environment, the girls made some leaf puppets! Developing their awareness for the environment, we discussed the changes we can see in autumn. Later, the girls used their creativity and communication skills to make their own play using their new puppets!

Performing Arts Club

We had the best time in Performing Arts Club! Suggested by Charlie, we participated in a Just Dance competition. Developing their gross motor skills and musicality, it was amazing to watch the children participating and having a go even when there were some challenging dance moves! Great work everyone!

OSHClub Mini Bake-Off Club

We had the best time in OSHClub Mini Bake Off Club! The senior students took the lead once again and successfully delegated roles amongst their younger peers. Together, the children developed their cooperative communication skills. The product were some delicious scones!

Chill out Fridays

The Friday Chill Out Club celebrated National Families Week! Together, we chatted about what we love in our family and some special people in our lives. Later, the children made special cards and pictures for special people in their family.

Spotlight on the Community: National Families Week

As part of our commitment to families within our community, Spotlight on the Community will be a platform for staff within the program can share relevant resources to support parents with parenting and wellbeing.

This week we are sharing information about the Positive Parenting Program run by Bayside City Council. Providing evening zoom sessions for families, the program aims to deliver resources to support parents of children and young people. The sessions are presented by well regarded professionals in the sector and aim to provide parents, guardians and carers with current information and strategies on topics such as kindergarten and school readiness, resilience, body safety, raising girls, raising boys and digital savvy families.

How can you get involved?

Sessions for 2022 are ticketed, so registration is required. If you’d like to attend one of these sessions, please sign up to the subscription list here.

We love feedback!

As part of our commitment to ongoing quality improvement within the program, we are seeking feedback from families and communities!

This week we are focusing on Quality Area 2 of the National Quality Standard: Children’s Health and Safety.

What are we working on?

A meaningful approach to healthy eating is promoted within our weekly menus and aligns with relevant governing guidelines (NQS 2.1.3).

Question:

What would you like to see the service include in our menus? (NQS 2.1.3).

In relation to your child’s dietary needs, what’s important to you? (NQS 2.1.3).

We would love your feedback and insight. Please follow the link to provide us with some feedback in this area!
