Parents Association

Message from Co-Chairs

Connie Sands & Virginia Pullman

Hello from the PA team.

Hope every-one has been keeping warm in this very cold week. Hopefully the snow continues to fall for those that are looking to head up to the slopes this year.

MOTHERS DAY LUNCH

What a brilliant day for those mums who attended the Mothers Day Lunch.  Unfortunately we couldn’t include all the gorgeous ladies' pictures taken as we need consent from each lady to include. The beautiful flowers on the tables, the place cards made by our kids, the wonderful video with our kids wishing us a happy mothers day, the raffle, the DJ and the dancing.

Thank-you to every-one that volunteered to help organise the day.  These included Sue Conterno , Mel Harrington, Mel Fuller (Main Coordinators) and Krystine Beche, Suzana Meier, Chantal Horton, Belinda Chapman, Louisa Molfese, Kisane Soriano and Mel Storer.  The ladies did an amazing job and the room looked beautiful.

Mothers Day Lunch 2022 recap from Susan Conterno

La Dolce Vita!

On Saturday 21st May, many of the mothers of St James students gathered for a ‘Mothers Day’ lunch celebration at The Elwood Bathers. The theme of the day ‘La Dolce Vita’ was embodied in so many ways; from the piano accordion welcome, to the vespa and Tuscan window painting, used as a backdrop for the photo wall. Not to mention the citrus decorated vases on the tables and floral south of Italy vacation style dresses worn by so many. However, ‘the simple life’ was best highlighting by our attention being drawn to why we were there celebrating with our friends, because we have the joy of children in our lives.

Alfie and Delilah began the day with the acknowledgement of country and a welcome on behalf of the students of St James. Then as we enjoyed the delicious food, a slide of our children as toddlers was displayed, taking us on a trip down memory lane. Laughing, drinking and dancing proceeded with the highlight of the day being a video of our children being shown, the video was just like a snap shot of an Italian holiday. Thank you to Carmelino Corio for taking us on this delightful journey!

Over 75 women attended and although a few could not make it due to illnesses and were sorely missed, all received a gift bag. Thanks to some very generous donations there were lots prizes and a raffle. All money raised will go to purchasing a defibrillator for the school.

A huge thank you to the organising committee made up of Chantal Horton, Louisa Molfese, Kisane Soriano, Krystine Beche, Suzana Meier, Belinda Chapman and Melanie Storer who all generously gave their time and energy to make the day a big success.

Mel Fuller, Mel Harington and I could not have done it without you.

PARENTS NIGHT OUT

PopSaturday the 6th of Augusin your calendars at Brighton Yacht club.

We now need help with raising auction items for fundraising.  If every family just raises one item to auction we would have over 200 items.

Do you have something you can donate or can you ask some-one you know?

We have created a fundraising spreadsheet so we don’t double up on what we are following up for auction items.

Please add items that you are chasing up (potential donations) or items you have raised to the sheet. If they don’t eventuate, you can just remove them from the sheet.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eXuCbzsVWy04ooUdIyDuOTyH-SuY6FRPUOVCrB6VB-4/edit#gid=634347005

All items raised will be added to an auction booklet to be sent out to all parents before the events.  This is great advertising and incentive for local businesses.

For any queries on the parents night out, please contact Paige, on paigeetharrington@gmail.com

COLOUR RUN -  2nd September

The colour run fundraising is still open, let’s all see how much we can raise before then.

Please make sure that you set up the students virtual profiles and share with family and friends. Donations can be made online or cash is also accepted.

BUNNINGS SAUSAGE SIZZLE

Thanks to Matt and Steph Glowaski for volunteering for the Bunnings BBQ.

Confirmed date with Bunnings Moorabbin is Sunday 24 July 2022.

If any-one would like to help out on the day, please let Virginia or Connie know?

FAMILY LIAISON OFFICER

The St James Community cares. We wanted to remind everyone that if you are in need or have experienced loss or know someone in these circumstances we have a Family Liaison Office (Sue Conterno) who will help organise some community support, be that meals, school pick up/drop off or flowers and cards.

Please email Sue, susan.conterno@gmail.com to ensure she is aware of anyone who may need some extra care and support.

THANK-YOU AND A REMINDER OF WHERE ALL OUR FUNDRAISING IS GOING

The PA are very grateful for the continued support of all our parents, the school and local  community.  All our PA members are volunteers who generously give up their own time to organize our school events.  Our fundraising focus this year is to buy PMP equipment and a new defiberator machine.
