Principal's News

Pentecost Sunday

This Sunday we celebrate Pentecost Sunday.  Pentecost takes place 50 days after Easter and completes the Easter season.  At Pentecost we remember how the Holy Spirit came to the disciples who were gathered in an upper room.  The Holy Spirit helped Jesus’ followers to courageously go out and share the good news about Jesus with many people, and so began the time of the Church.

May we continue to allow the spirit to act through our selves and impact those that we meet.  As a Catholic school we are accepting of all faiths and people.  We are a community of welcome, not an exclusive community.

As parents please send the message that all are welcome, especially as we mark this important time in our faith community.

School Review

As has been mentioned in previous newsletters, St James is participating in school review this year.  The purpose of the school review is to support our school to become intentional in the alignment and coherence of resources and professional learning to support improvements in an ongoing and continuous way.

The School Improvement Framework (SIF) rubric provides one core articulation of effective practice in our school.  The SIF comprises five spheres:

  • Religious education
  • Learning and Teaching
  • Leadership and Management
  • Student Wellbeing
  • School Community

The review rubric provides us with information of how we are progressing as a school and provides us with further information regarding future school improvement.  We are continually called to reimagine our approaches to school improvement as the educational landscape for all schools continues to change.  The Leadership team and all staff have been involved in the review process.  We have submitted our review material to Kylie Graham the external reviewer and to Simon Fitzpatrick representing Melbourne Archdiocesan Catholic Schools. (MACs)

There are four stages to the review.

Jun 7, 2022    VRQA Victorian Authority Qualifications Authority

June 9, June 14 and July 14   SIF Rubric.

All staff, children from each grade, School Advisory Council and parents representative from the Parent Association will be interviewed.

Well done Mums

In today's newsletter you will see a report on the recent Mothers Day luncheon.  We are grateful for the wonderful organization and good fun that our Mums had.

Marie Talarico

Mrs Marie Talarico has decided that she would like to resign her Italian position at the end of Term 2. I met with Marie last Wednesday 25th May and she has informed me that whilst she is grateful for her time at St James, she has made a decision to invest more of her time in her other schools, St Agnes Highett and St Brigids Mordialloc.

We wish Marie every good wish in her future years.

Faith in our future
