Winter Sports

Last Tuesday, Beaufort Primary School sent a mixed AFL and mixed netball team into Alfredton Oval to compete against other schools in our district.

Our AFL team had a great day out. Our experienced players did a fantastic job to support the many players having their very first AFL game. The team grew in confidence as the day progressed and they managed a very convincing win against Newington Primary School. The sportsmanship shown throughout the day was a joy to witness. Agreements were made with some teams to play less players when teams were short and other teams agreed not to tackle one of our players who was having their very first game. Perhaps the highlight of this was during the second half of the game that Beaufort won.  Two of our experienced students managed our team from the sidelines to 'give the others a go'. Not only did this allow the score line to balance out a little, it meant the world of difference to players on the other team having a fun day out and enjoying school sport.
